Hike on 29th June 2007

Right so the day started off ridiculously tiring already. Most of us had 3 to 4 hours of sleep only, and we had to awake at 8am to set off for our hiking trip --> MacRitchie to Bukit Timah, the SUPPOSED Level 3 Trail. Jia zhen and i took the same bus and we happily thought we were going to be early. Guess what? We overshot by erm, 10 plus bus stops? Soo... Here we are somewhere in serangoon instead of Lornie Road, where we were supposed to be...



Yep, she's all ready to celebrate Singapore birthday. She LOVES SINGAPORE after all! haha -grin-



Okay, we're pissed... somewhat. We soon saw the funny side of things. We're happy, optimistic people!

Right so on to the hike itself, somehow, i don't know how, we landed up taking the LEVEL SIX trail, which is the toughest one of all! GAHHH but then again, haha don't look down on us. The after effects were not as bad as the ODAC hike either! Anyway... --> For the photos...



Yep, i climbed up onto a tree stump and stood awkwardly up there...



Sooo, finally we reached the Tree Top Trail... Yeah, it's long, but it's pretty stable! =)

And the lonely guy, who was abandoned by his comrade who flew off without him.



It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a FLYING LIZARD!!!



Yep, this was what Jia Zhen and Jielong were looking at...

Jielong was dying...



While the three girls were as fit as can be!!

Oh oh, there was one funny bit. It started to drizzle then, and there was a little bit of thunder, and of course, clouds were clouding the area. We happened to be singing this song -->

"As we hold on together, i know our dreams will never die, dreams see us through to forever, WHERE CLOUDS ROLL BY, for..."

*ROAR WITH LAUGHTER* At that precise moment, we noticed the clouds literally rolling by!! haha

OH, and i guess at this point of time, Jielong was feeling cranky since he couldn't catch up with the girls (NAH haha he did pretty well. He was Mr. Strong Man since he helped us carry ALL our bags too!), he decided to spite me. I was commenting that bees ZOOM past, and he corrected me harshly, saying "BEES DO NOT ZOOM. CAMERAS ZOOM". -.-" oookay whatever. -.-

Right... so we continued on our walk... -->



Nice manly Jielong offered (okay, so he didn't. We just kinda dumped the stuff on him), to carry our bags for us. ALL our bags. He was the porter for today, for the price of 10 dollars!! (NAH haha, he did it for free)

Yeaahhh, our never-ending trail. Sigh...

--> Soo we walked, and walked, and walked... til we came to a clearing. HUH?? "Where to from here??" we asked ourselves. I walked to one end, with pipes and a steep clift hanging drop, and wondered "NO LA, we're not supposed to climb across the pipes, ARE WE??" Jia zhen wandered over to the other end, staring at grass, trying to find a trail of some kind. Finally, blind Jielong became not so blind after all. HE FOUND THE TRAIL!!



That STUPID TINY sign!! How is any human eye supposed to find THAT? So there we are, prepared to fight the misleading sign...



Well we passed by this sign "Stop feeding the monkeys", so we decided to take a picture with it! "Stop feeding us!!" Haha by the way, the stuff we're holding to our mouth are peach gummies... YUM!



There was an army camp nearby, and we made a fool of ourselves by taking numerous pictures of our reflections in the mirror thing... The guards were glancing at us every now and then! Haha

Another "break through" from the jungle. --> We came across some interesting boulders to pose with...



Jielong the Monkey god without powers, Loisa the Wise Sage of Knowledge, Jia Zhen the goddess of Peace...



Shucks, i look like the Fed Ex man delivering some parcel, which Jia zhen refuses to accept. She probably thinks it's a bomb or something...



Okay, i don't know what this is, nor what we're both doing. I'm probably unleashing my fearful powers on the disobedient Jia Zhen.

Oh we then passed by this durian loop thing, where durians were everywhere!! We were just waiting for one to drop on our heads -->



Oh it was at this point of time when i supposedly, as quoted by Jielong, began to "spray insect repellent on Jia zhen like i was spray painting some car". -.- (He's probably just jealous that i didn't offer to spray him.) I think i sprayed too much anyway, cause i began coughing like an idiot, saying my nose was sensitive (which it REALLY is!!), and that Jielong KINDLY shared that "it was because Loisa is a bug, that is why she's repelled". GRUMBLE. Stupid powerless Monkey god knows NOTHING.



AHA we finally arrived at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve!!! 13 KILOMETERS later!! 13 KM from MacRitchie to Bukit Timah!!

*Note: There's a squirrel on the left of the boulder eating nuts! =)

After dinner... KABONK. On the bus...



Tired out!

We've made a vow, to hike/trek/exercise twice every month! We'll see how it turns out! Haha!

Ps. Eileen had a very interesting encounter with monkeys. When we all went to the restrooms, she sat outside with our stuff, and FOOD. The monkeys went up close to her, and tried opening our plastic bags of food. Zzzzz
